Alice

I've finished my first e-book! Pride and prejudice was good:) I feel more inclined to using long flowerly sentences now! haha i wonder why people spoke that way in the past... like every thing you said had to be peppered with polite phrases even if you didn't want to be civil.

anyway! i downloaded my next read - Alice in Wonderland! :) realised i never read the original by lewis caroll, only watched movie versions of the book and i think read an abridged version... if only i could dream like Alice... but then i wouldn't want to wake from such fantastic fantasies.

The bicycle lock's been broken and changed by my bro!! i shall find a day which i'm going home straight from work and start my cycling routine:)

Wednesday, July 21

i need my exercise!

downloaded this e-book from samsung apps last night (when i was supposed to be marking, but oh well), chose a classic - pride and prejudice. yes, i've never read it (hears the curses from my very lit-y friends) but i shall take my time. the first 4 chpts are very witty and the book seems promising. definitely not as painful as my A level classic - great expectations! totally fell asleep. never will be able to finish it in like a month.

anyway, i figured that i really need to start exercising regularly again! it's for health reasons i assure you. i had such excruciating menstrual cramps today i could barely stumble to class-.-'' yes, horror of horrors i got my period on the day which i've the most lessons lined up for me. anyway i only started getting bad cramps when i stopped training, it gets worse when i'm not active. like it's either no cramps or it's almost crippling. warm water helps and i refuse to take panadol (long term side effects) but i think exercise is the way to go.

OK now to get my brother to break that bike lock!!

mini diary

i must apologise for neglecting my poor blog!! i've been using the mini-diary in my phone to record incidents or thoughts daily, either at the start or end of the day, so there's little motivation for me to re-hash whatever i've written. but the phone diary has a limit of dunno how many lines so i can't ramble much. and i've been trying to upload it to blogger but the best i can do is upload the whole thing as an image to FB. boo:(

started using the 40-day devotional, it's quite focused and insightful. will start this discipline again, it's smth i must work on because i've been putting it off too long!! AJA AJA FIGHTING!

oh. and need to find time to excercise again...

NEW PHONE

introducing.. the SAMSUNG WAVE!!! woooooooooooooooh. hahah yes it's a sort of iphone rip-off but i think it's pretty cool!!! it's seriously the nicest most expensive phone i've ever gotten. (i'm happy as long as the claim goes thru HAHA)

gonna get a screen protector then it's good to go! and i dropped it once already:( but it's fine!!! very hardy. hehe. better send in the warranty tmr.

school tmr!! thanks to gwen who helped me finish marking my WS!! u r da best marking-buddy ever:):):) too bad i forgot to bring the math WBs-.-''

started on my uni admin stuff last fri, gonna be down at NTU this wed to send in my forms and do my medical:) so excited to start this new phase.. CAN'T WAIT!!!

things i've been dying to tell you all week!

Term 3 Week 1 was a blast! i mean it literally, as in, it was so packed my brain's all saturated with stuff i wasn't able to pen down cuz i was coming home so late and had to wake up so early. YES i forsook fb for a whole 3 days! HAHA. seems like forever (i know, terrible right) and i'm blabbering now cuz i haven't blogged for that long.

first things first!
UPDATE:
tues interview went well! it was this nice caucasian lady interviewer, an assc prof, who was friendly and didn't make me more stupidly nervous than i already was. she asked general guiding qns which weren't annoyingly vague (e.g. tell me about yourself) nor unreasonable (e.g. name the ethical issues surrounding the Human Genome Project). i did prepare for that last question by the way, cuz i was freaking out that much in the car on the way there, caught in that terrible PIE jam caused by 2 accidents. i called poor michelle and she could amazingly tell me some of the ethical stuff we learnt during the bio lectures we slept thru. ANYWAY i should know the results next week, or later.

let's go LAURENT BERNARD'S @ robertson quay! because the chocolate desserts there are to die for, like seriously, i hardly can tell the difference btw good and excellent but these sweet treats are to die for. yes i sound like an over-enthusiastic food critic now but it's awesome seriously let's go when i get my next pay. YUMMMMM.

i went there with my SERVE babes on thurs, we hardly meet up but we always have memorable outings. like has to be awesome food or cool (mostly ulu) location or doing fun stuff. like how we had sashimi @ sagisawa which was as thick as my fingers! also at robertson quay, fyi.

oh and i had udders at the ulu part of bukit timah on wed! siglap one nicer venue but saw new weird flavours at bukit. it was aft yummy simpang-like dinner with cherrie jingyan esther at clementi area. we divulged alot of secrets HAHAHAH. it was awesome catching up with them la:) just that we kinda couldn't find the bus stop which had the buses that would bring us home, so in the end i burnt another hole in my wallet taking cab home:/

OK AND ROYALS CAFE@SIGLAP HAS SURPRISINGLY DELICIOUS CHICKEN SOUP. order the set meal!

i love being on mc

but i seriously see the value of work.
i mean, if i were on holiday every day like this, i'll end up looking like this highly starchy carbohydrate staple.

today i decided to take my mum's advice and really use my mc to rest so i could get better from this cough with phlegm-sore throat-running nose which has been bugging me since LAST monday. it really is a terrible feeling to be ill, especially when you're not having a fever and you don't HAVE to rest at home (cuz everyone's paranoid about H1N1 and HFMD, which granted, are viable fears) so you decide to be all heroic and still go to work. alright i didn't have a choice at the peak of my phlegm-cough-no-voice stage cuz it was Meet The Parents and i didn't want to be that annoying newbie teacher who would choose that day of all days to fall sick.

but honestly, i'm really such a bum when i get a day off. like the most constructive thing i did today was to do the laundry! the rest was spent watching a home movie and a How  I Met Your Mother season 3 half marathon. hahaha. and since i'm sick i can't even get over the inertia of the gravity of the sofa by exercising. oh and my cough medicine causes drowsiness. which only the TV can overcome. i love being on mc. MUAHAHAHA.

Thursday, May 20

running on wet sand

went running w taariq - from tamp to bedok res! yea not that far but it felt good to stretch my legs and de-stress from another long day in school. it's a crappy feeling to dread going to school, yet you know you have to cuz there's just so much to do.

taariq came up with this awesome plan to help me with my marking! we're gonna stay out and mark like mad tmr, so i can clear my crazy piles of WS by this weekend and get them to do filing on monday heh... YES i'm so inspired! FINISH MARKING WOOOOOH!

hope i can practice my headstand tmr:/

8 more days to hols
2 days to physical proficiency test

Thursday, April 29

i keep drinking fluids but i still feel thirsty

went for a jog after work today, cuz my colleague sent me back so i reached home like half hour earlier than expected. and since i was in shoes already. aiyo. it was pretty slow and tiring and the ipod hanged towards the end (when the music is most needed! motivation!!). but.. it felt good to have my legs moving and heart pumping. i miss running! (and my super anti-running LL screams into oblivion reading that line) you know what my music is so not the go running type of music! it's more sleepy and emo and wind down type. zzzzzzzz. i blame the sister (i koped her songs)

one of the songs from my sis itunes, its not her usual sleepy song, slightly old and country but catchy!

Picture perfect memories
scattered all around the floor.
reaching for the phone,
cause I cant fight it anymore.

And i wonder if I ever cross your mind
for me it happens all the time

Its a quarter after one im all alone and I
need you now
said I wouldn't call
but I lost all control and I need you now,
and I dont know how I can do without
i just need you now

Another shot of whiskey
cant stop looking at the door,
wishing you'd come sweeping
in the way you did before

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind,
for me it happens all the time

Its a quarter after one im a little drunk and I
need you now
said I wouldnt call
but I lost all control and
I need you now.
and I dont know how I can do without
I just need you now...

wooh oo wooh oh

Yes I'd rather hurt than feel nothing at all

Its a quarter after one im all alone and I
need you now
and I said I wouldn't call
but im a little drunk and I need you now
and I dont know how I can do without
I just need you now
I just need you now

thanks for borrowing the gym and badminton books for me dad, so sweet!

Tuesday, April 27

i have red pens in every bag

haha i'll be thrilled if my students could speak in proper sentences like that!

i'm gearing up for a busy next few weeks cuz EXAMS are here and i gotta clear all my backlog and return the files for them to revise by NEXT WEEK. oh and there's block marking of exam scripts to do *faints*

next three days will be at least 10-hour days, cuz of courses and compo block marking *sobs*

have no fear, long weekend approaching! if only we were like France - if a holiday fell on thurs or tues, the middle working day (fri or mon) would be a holiday too. Think, if only we had 4-day long weekends!!

Thursday, April 15

still a kid

shows which i wouldn't change the channel to another if it were showing:
  1. Ben 10 Alien Force
  2. Teen Titans
  3. Spongebob Squarepants
  4. Hannah Montana
Evidently a loyal okto fan...

things i'd stay up late for:
  1. just because i don't have to wake up for work the next day (i'd be watching a mio home movie or reading manga!)
  2. reading a good book
  3. blogging
  4. facebook
  5. marking (this comes only with extreme stress or tremendous will-power or having LL to keep me company on the phone)

know what, they all aren't good reasons to stay up, cuz it makes me cranky and there's always things for me to do in the day which takes energy and i don't ever have more than enough sleep. well, rarely anyway. night then!

Wednesday, April 7

the value of sleep

sleeplessness makes me cranky, messes up my body clock n systems, adds to my number of unsquishable white heads (fyi for the idiot- white head=mini dried up pimple),  makes me BINGE like crazy, and makes me so muddle-headed that i can lose an important piece of paper that was entrusted to me on sunday when i was carrying ridiculous number of bags and stuff so i don't know where i put the paper. D:

but sleeplessness, for one night at least, is a worthy price to pay for my efforts to scale the unending mountain of MARKING i have to clear, slowly but surely. who knew teachers had backlog?

Monday, April 5

on MC

my mum was right. you can't go without enough rest and expect to be in the pink of health. i guess i need to be more responsible about taking care of myself! :/

sometimes my mum gives me advice which i tend to ignore, like "cut down your social activities, come home early and rest", but now i know i should heed advice coming from a true busy bee. i think my siblings n i inherited the "busy gene" from my mum, we all like to dip our hands into so many activities and have a hundred commitments. i hope we also inherited the ability to handle big projects and tons of stress from our dad! haha i know i got the "watch tv mindlessly" habit from him (prob to destress)

on other news, i failed my PPT (the PE test i took recently). sometimes i think they fail people on purpose so they have to take it a few times and pay more. but anyway it was a marked improvement! i passed every station at least, but i missed the passing grade by one. i'm actually pleasantly surprised cuz i thought i'd do worse, so i'm quite on about taking the May test. just that i need to schedule time to train for it!

k i'm gonna sleep early to prep for a long day at sch tmr! silly of me to wanna go back even tho i've MC for tmr too, but i feel bad for leaving my kids with funny relief teachers.

Wednesday, March 31

bottle it up

i promise i'll blog properly over the weekend! if i'm not marking my ass off or finishing the sci-fi sequel that jeanle lent me (I <3 Ender!) all you sci-fi critics, you ain't seen anything till you read Ender's Game (and all the subsequent books in the series). proof - mel hasn't returned me one of the sequels yet (Ender's Shadow i think). okay but come to think of it she hasn't returned me alot of stuff GRRR.

alright back to marking! (i havent exactly started on today's pile but i'm going to! after i feed my growling tummy:P)

Saturday, March 27

PPT

yupp, it's over! the physical proficiency test i've been fretting over these few weeks. results will be out in about 3-4 weeks time, but honestly i don't have a good feeling about it. don't think i did much better for the different stations as compared to the first time i took the test. already preparing to sign up for the next test in May, which is the last one i can take before they consider my application for NIE. if i fail the May test as well, i'll forgo PE and be a regular subject teacher :/

i actually enjoy teaching in the classroom, but i feel that studying PE is smth i would enjoy very much...

oh well. let's just hope and pray for the best!

thanks ya'll who have been so supportive - trying desperately to teach me cartwheels, playing badminton, asking about the test... so touching even my kor jon asked how it went! AWWW (he hardly asks me stuff, i usually volunteer info and push my daily stories down his ears haha)

meanwhile, i'll stick to my weekly exercise routine of FB hehe

Friday, March 19

i'm so nervous

my Physical Proficiency Test is exactly a week away and i'm far from being able to do a decent cartwheel or handstand. like seriously i'm gonna make a fool out of myself again:(

managed to wake at 8plus today and went for a slow jog cuz my right hamstring and butt's been aching since yings tried to drill me on the kicking technique for the cartwheel. i was starting to think it was a strain when the pain didn't go away after warming up/jogging/cooling down. but it suddenly got better after i stretched it out a few times, so yay!
i'm gonna ask amaryllis to help me hold my legs so i can practice my handstand. i'm considering doing that instead of a cartwheel cuz i can't seem to get the twist of the hands and body which is needed for handstand. hopefully i don't have to hold my upside down position too long:/

oh. and i don't think i'm staying in hall.

WHEEEEEEEEEE

i am super high on sugar! must be the insane amount of milo i drank in the past 8 hours hahahaha!
makes me wanna do a hundred things at once and be as efficient as my non-multi-tasking self can be, which is why i'm torturing my com by syncing my ipod and bluetoothing my phone photos at the same time. hee.

this week has been such a rush! but its a welcome change from my usual school routine - i've been sleeping late and waking late, wasting precious daylight hours snoozing when i could be finishing up my overdue marking (it has progressed from piles on my desk to a cupboard full of it. very decieving cuz now my desk is clear) SOOO i have decided that tmr, the last weekday of the sch hols, will be my EFFECIENT MARKING DAY! *cheers and whoops for joy* (this means i have to sleep soon or i'll end up waking at 12 again)

tv is evil

a little more sleep goes a long way.
i am a strong supporter of 8 hours of sleep for a happier and more energetic day!

plus lack of sleep makes me eat more (body needs more energy to stay awake longer)

i think i should fast from tv and fb, that would allow me to accomplish MUCH more, and USEFUL stuff too.

Eirene Lee, please just do what you have to do!

i totally killed more than 5 mosquitoes at home just tonight-.-'' BLOOD SUCKERS

Saturday, February 27

the way we are

hot plate dinner at zoe's followed by nwuaghing session on the unclean side of her bed (she refused to let us touch her CLEAN bed, we're all squashed at her sister's bed). shall wait for the photos to be up on fb. and my reputation shall be ruined (again, as usual. sigh)

love u babes;)
