hanging out with you makes me feel childish

i've been enjoying myself thoroughly this christmas weekend hanging out with my family and church friends... even though it's been a packed week, we had quite a bit of time to hang out in btw activities. i realised after spending time with them that i'm really gonna miss their company, especially the presence of my siblings. it's awesome staying in hall (and i miss Michelle already) but i miss home sometimes.

i wish my one month break was a real holiday, but i guess its not meant to be-.-'' just filled up my new scheduler (thanks to glor sherm sarah fish!!) for jan and it's all trainings and matches. i suppose i'll come out of hols being pretty fit but exhausted as well. BAH. WHAT HOLIDAYS. it's gonna be one of those "tiring but fun" kinda season i hope. it sucks that i've to be taken out of track cuz i've IVP training on the morning of the IHG track heats:(  and it's not like i'm going to be playing on the IVP team either... this is what i'm missing 3/4 of the SNP retreat for?!! ARGHHH.

Friday, December 24

4 days to Christmas!!

exams are finally over, and been busy with performances in church and at orchard road!!! anyway, finally got to take a photo with my new fringe (which is giving me forehead pimples but is awesome cuz i dun have to do my eyebrows HAHA). i'm going to sleep now cuz i stayed up to watch grey's anatomy WOOHOOO this is the post-exam life:D

Sunday, December 5

christmas/exam blues

christmas is coming!!!!!!! and so are my exams.. which is crazy cuz it means i'm studying thru the christmas prep. well, ok, supposed to be studying. i'm not covering much ground over the weekend! and did i mention this year our church is running a ridiculous number of christmas events/productions?!!!! which is awesome cuz of the opportunities for outreach, but it's also amazingly taxing on the limited pool of committed people. guess it's really a call for dependance on God. like seriously, ALL the youth leaders are unbelievably PACKED like CRAZY. exams, camps, internship, work, mission trips.. those less busy with external commitments have their hands and legs in the various christmas events, so no one is spared.

RARR i guess in busy times like this it's really essential to slow down and seize a quiet moment to align ourselves so that we don't get caught up with the activity. and the trick is to find that joy during the preparation itself... which is not always apparent when your brain is so saturated and you feel that there's NO TIME to practice :(  i suppose the joy doesn't come from the activity itself, but the purpose behind it. things are so much more worth it when it's meaningful. so yes FOCUS FOCUS on what truly matters -  and i wont feel so bogged down.

and YES i will study because my grades are my responsibility as a student and i'm not about to squander my parents' CPF money to live as a student if i'm not gonna do well (at least decently la). BOOOO studying is such a drag :/  it's my weakness la studying. i'm so unmotivated. i rmb going thru a whole depressed pep talk to myself like before Alevels, just to talk myself into mugging for exams and telling myself it's not too late. OK so EIRENE LEE IT'S NOT TOO LATE YOU CAN STUDY IN 7 DAYS AND TAKE YOUR 6 EXAM PAPERS IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT. peng told me a most encouraging thing which would make my self-motivational statement valid - he said "God can make 6 days more fruitful than 7 days." meaning that God is all-powerful and i should trust Him that despite me not devoting my entire life to studies, he can make my limited mugging time more fruitful than if i neglected all else. so yes, i shall trust that God wil help me to understand what i need to understand for my exams.... and it's not the end of the world yet.

Tuesday, November 23

the heavens declare your glory

as morning dawns and evening fades
you inspire songs of praise
that rise from earth to touch your heart
and glorify your name

your name
is a strong and mighty tower
your name
is a shelter like no other
your name
let the nations sing it louder
'cause nothing has the power to save
but your name

Tuesday, October 26

spectator or player?

Saviour
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is Mighty To Save
Forever- Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

so take me as you find me
all my fears and failures
fill my life again
i give my life to follow
everything i believe in
now i surrender

i surrender

there's a difference btw a believer and a follower. many assume beliving in smth is the same as following what you believe in. however commitment doesn't come naturally, it's a decision and a choice. so being a spectator in the stands is not the same as playing the game, training for it, persevering in it and building up your resilience to take the hard knocks. i really appreciated the analogy of the spectator vs player cuz of being a sportsperson. it's really smth you choose to want to work hard on it because it's never a given. you work hard or just be content with sitting on the stands.

i'm easily contented. it's not always a good thing. perhaps i can accept sitting out on the netball team (prob why i'm set to be 2nd team) but being a spectator of Christianity? no, i want to be a true follower. which means i can't be content with simply having the head knowledge, having the outward appearance of a follower, even being involved and doing what a committed person would do. because coming down for training is a minimum, but putting your heart into the training and going back to think about what you learnt and how to apply and having it fill your mind on your way back... that's passion.

i cried that sunday singing that song because i realised the word Saviour wasn't just a casual word. it's crying out "Saviour!" like, someone you trust totally and place your heart and life with. but the kicker was the next line: "MY GOD is mighty to save" because He isn't just anyone's saviour, He's My saviour. and it just struck me that i've no ownership in this relationship, how can i call him my saviour? oh and then when it went "Jesus conquered the grave" i just got overwhelmed with the awesomeness and how almighty He is... God has a way of doing that, showing just how GREAT He is. and it overwhelms you, because you know how unworthy you are.

so Vee was right, i felt estranged from God cuz i've been caught up in activity. so it's good to sing from your heart cuz God would use the song to "touch the recesses of your soul".

so i'll update how my new relationship is going soon... not boyfriend, but relationship with My saviour.

spoonful of honey

so honey does make you feel better! that and The Mentalist :)

the sharp knife of a short life

if I die young bury me in satin

lay me down on a bed of roses

sink me in the river at dawn

send me away with the words of a love song

ooh ooh ooh ooh

Lord make me a rainbow I'll shine down on my mother

she'll know I'm safe with you and she stands under my colors

oh and life ain't always what you think it ought to be

no ain't even gray but she buries her baby

the sharp knife of a short life

well I've had just enough time

if i die young bury me in satin

lay me down on a bed of roses

sink me in the river at dawn

send me away with the words of a love song

the sharp knife of a short life

well, i have just enough time

and I'll be wearing white

when i come into your kingdom

I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger

I've never known the lovin' of man

but it sure felt nice when he was holdin' my hand

there's a boy here in town

who says he'll love me forever

who would have thought forever could be severed

by the sharp knife of a short life

well I've had just enough time

so put on your best boys, and I'll wear my pearls

what i never did is done

a penny for my thoughts oh no I'll sell 'em for a dollar

they're worth so much more after I'm a goner

and maybe then you'll hear the words that I've been singin'

its funny when your dead how people start listenin'

if I die young bury me in satin

lay me down on a bed of roses

sink me in the river at dawn

send me away with the words of a love song

ooh ooh the ballad of a dove

go with peace and love

gather up your tears and keep them in your pocket

save em for a time when your really gonna need em.

oh the sharp knife of a short life

well I've had just enough time

so put on your best boys, and I'll wear my pearls

home is where the heart is

I love being at home. The thing about my place in Pasir Ris is that there's a whole lot of windows, which makes the whole house bright and breezy in the day. Most of my friends who have come over only see it in the evening, where the windows are all shut for fear of blood-sucking mosquitoes (that's the trouble of being right next to the Pasir Ris Park forest) and the flat is illuminated by flourescent artificial light. The closed windows also mean the place is pretty stuffy cuz we shifted the air-con units into the rooms, leaving the main hall devoid of alternative cooling system other than natural breeze or the humble standing fan.

But in the daytime, when we spend the most time out of the house, is such a glorious time to appreciate the soft glow of the warm-hued interior, as the sunlight falls flatteringly on the brown-and-white furniture and faux marble floor. I must admit most of the comfort I find in this house is the presence of clothes - washed and fresh out of the dryer, strewn on the sofa or neatly folded on the coffee table but unclaimed by their busy procrastinating owners. You can tell it's not exactly the neatest place but I guess we're all kinda used to the organized mess. And besides, the messiness of the place shows the life in the home (and also that we're too preoccupied to keep it spick-and-span).

I simply love the warmth exuded from my humble home in this small cloister of Pasir Ris flats, and although I'm always oogling at Ikea showrooms and the minimalist neatness of new, young couple flats, there's no other place I'd call home. Even if I'm only home on the weekends!

See that's the reason why I'd never treat my hall room as home, despite the many photos I pasted up and my messy attempt to artistically fill up the white wall beside my bed with handwritten notes and the used packaging from birthday gifts. So,yes, I miss my own home too much to stay in hall to study the whole recess week, cuz besides not taking very well to the idea of being cooped up studying lonelily in my room, I need the comfort of home and family. And even though i'm home alone for now, it's still comforting to be in the familiar presence of clean, unkept clothes and madly stacked cushions on the sofa.

Tuesday, October 12

this is my roomie melissa!! haha she's super cute and petite, and a hardcore anime and manga fan!!  was applying henna for her during our GBG (green block gang, the most awesome block in hall5!) mini oktoberfest hehe. it was fun, just lotsa beer n sauseges. the few of us went to hang out at some supposedly scenic spot, but apparently trees sprouted out of the hillside within a year and blocked the wonderful view.

ANYWAY i went for training today after a week of rest due to the sprained ankle. and WOW it was intense man, i ended training with a cramped calf (khai was like "see, the doctor say 2 weeks but you go n train then your leg liddat"). and i think i need to get new netball shoes! cuz i braked on the indoor court and my toenail jammed into my shoe and it HURTS now:/ but other than that i'm fine, my ankle's as good as new:) but i'll be laying off the heels for awhile to be on the safe side:)

i need to stop getting injured during training!!

Tuesday, October 5

khai bought me butterscotch bread

i'm actually running out of pictures to put on my blog. this is from fb!! heh. i love the whole album of me n michelle when we went back to vj after graduation (yes, in sch uniform, so cool right). we're gonna have an east-ie outing soon! so we can show Senior around the east, can you believe it, he hasn't tried Katong Laksa?!

i went to observe training today, cuz my ankle's still slightly swollen and i've been wearing the ankle guard everywhere. but i'm gonna take it off tmr so i don't get dependent. anyway it totally sucks to be at training but not train:( :( i really want to be back on the court!! it's like every training i miss is an entire skill that i'm lacking. at least i'm not missing team selections or smth, but the training is so intensive i feel that each session is so essential to my netball fundalmentals. but i know i won't impress anyone by training with a swollen ankle, and it won't help me either. so yes, i'll not train this week (SOB!!)

it's a good feeling to enjoy training so much that you miss it...

Thursday, September 30

nursing my sprained ankle

Part of the GREEN BLOCK GIRLS! that's my roomie melissa holding the cam:)

time to revive my poor neglected blog!! I'M BLOGGING FROM MY NEW AWESOME LAPTOP IN HALL!!! hahah but honestly the lack of internet access in hall the first 2 weeks of sch isn't the only reason why i've not been blogging, it's just that i've not been slowing down to think (yes, busyness is my weakness). obviously i've been forced to think cuz i'm stuck in room with my sprained ankle:( it's pretty swollen and i don't wanna stress it by walking around much, so i didn't go for lessons today. in fact i overslept for class by like 5 hours hahah. but i think my body's just too exhausted la. only my 2nd training and already injured:(

YES i joined NTU netball!! i'm really excited about training with such an awesome team, the training's serious n professional n FUN:) sometimes my head hurts more during training than in class cuz it's really skill intensive, but i've never been more excited about learning new skills in a sport i've played for 6 years. the coach is doing fundamental skills now but at a whole new level of play. it's like i'm a total newbie when it comes to training with this team, they're seriously in a league of their own. that's why i'm quite annoyed at spraining my ankle cuz i don't think i can recover by mon's training, and every training is so intensive on new skills, missing one would be a real disadvantage. i already joined late cuz it's by invite only. i didn't meet anyone from the team till last fri (an acquaintance from umpiring) who casually invited me for trials. i can understand the exclusivity cuz of the level of play, and anyway the netball circle is quite small. just that i'm not in the circle cuz i'm not in any club... so yea it's really providence that i met that netball girl in the bus on the way to hall! i'm really glad to be training again tho, despite the fact that i'm so rusty and noob now!! heh. but i'm enjoying myself thoroughly:)

Saturday, September 4

two-oh

despite the many events which fall on my birthday, none of which is a birthday party, i intend to have a happy birthday! no matter that i'm having a grumpy day even though my well-meaning hall friends were really nice and trying to cheer me up, and that i'm hormonally not disposed to be cheerful, and that i have to stay up to complete 20 pages of hw for tmr...

I SHALL HAVE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Dear God, thank you for seeing me through 20 years of life on this earth. Through the ups and downs, You are always there for me, Your presence is the ultimate place of solace, rest, comfort, joy. Keep me in Your Grace, my Father. Mould me for Your use. My birthday wish, as it has been for the last 10 years: to be a woman after Your own heart, to be a blessing to others. Grant it to me, according to Your timing and will! Even as i start on a new part of this journey, keep me close to Your side. Grant me discernment. Open my eyes to Your will and may Your Word govern my heart!

In Jesus' name, who saves us, Amen.

God blessed the broken road

it hit me when i cabbed back with 3 bags of stuff from my work place tonight (2 bags of barang, 1 bag of marking) that things are not gonna be the way they are as of the past 1 year. yupp, i've been working at FSPS for almost a year! 2 weeks short, but still.. annoyingly it's the teachers' day fortnight (and my bday week) that i've missed this year and last so i decided to give my students an unsubtle hint - "if you want to give me teachers' day present don't wait until next week ah! tmr last day already!" still thinking if i should stash all my the teachers' day cards somewhere so i won't have to bring it to huishan's place and subsequently to the staff dinner-.-''

anyway i don't think i'm really at a fork of a road yet, more like a change of environment. but i think the crossroads will be coming soon when uni life takes me full force. i don't know exactly what to expect and i'm half putting up my defences while wanting to soak myself in the fact that i'm a student again! it's different hanging out with colleagues and with classmates you know, i mean besides age, it's like a portion of the working relationship thing hangs over you. that's why i've really enjoyed this past week cuz i think i've been letting my inhibitions down a little so i could be more kiddy and laugh n joke more, and maybe cuz my colleagues have been more relaxed w me too since i'm leaving. it's really a lovely feeling, to have people wish you the best - colleagues, bosses, parents of students... and saying goodbye has never felt so happy before! amid all the well-wishes i was really touched to hear from a colleague, quite unexpectedly actually, that i would be missed. i think after the hustle of change has blown over, i'll look back and find that yea, i miss the people here too. my first proper working experience has been so eye-opening and fruitful and made so pleasant by the people that's filled my days. thanks ya'll ;)

Tuesday, August 24

4 more days!!

THE.END.IS.NEAR.

but first i need to do a major cleanup of my workdesk, which means clearing a lot of chucked away backlog!! BOO :(

anyway the impossible happened as another potentially major thing may happen in my last week of school, to my class -.-''  my student has suspected HFMD (handfootmouth disease - who's the genius that named it i wonder) but hasn't been diagnosed officially so can't call the crackdown yet. like evacuate n sterilize the classroom... sigh and i'll be telling my students after their test this tues that i'll be gone next week, so i hope they take it well:)

today my sister said a v sweet and funnily mushy thing while we were changing into home clothes - she pulled out the same nightie which i was wearing (yes, we have matching nightgowns, thanks to my grandma who lovingly sews hideous yet incredibly comfy nightdresses for us) and she went "who's gonna wear the same nightie as me when you're gone?" AHHAHAHAH.

oh well. i'm not looking forward to the massive cleanup i'll prob need to do when i move in on sunday...

but there's the wonderful weekend first! my only break in between schools:)

YEAA looking forward to fri's staff dinner!!!

Saturday, August 21

SHOPPING!!

bought:
maroon converses
coloured leggings
black wedges
lingerie (essential ok!)
over-the-knee socks

need to get:
himalayas face moisturizer
do my brows
paint those nails
learn how to wear fakies (eyelashes)

i'm in preparation for next week's teachers' day staff dinner! and the afterparty..
and also preparing for uni (hence the converse shoes). not sure when i'll ever wear the knee socks tho:/

anyway. i'm not even feeling broke (YET) cuz i convinced my mum to give me birthday money since my parents wouldn't be around for my first month in uni AND for my birthday:( so.. these are presents to myself haha. but it would be nice to have my parents at home when i come back on weekends. ah well. let you know how the room looks when i go over next sunday to springclean and move in.

7 more days!!! praying hard no other major accident will happen to my class before i leave..

Tuesday, August 17

sisterly love

one of the things i'll miss while staying in hall - my sister's presence and our night chats...

wish we could spend more time tgt before she moves out!

Saturday, August 14

LULL

see michelle i'm dedicating an entire blog post to you!!! thanks for waking up early to meet me for breakfast and laughing over my students' work with me! forgot to tell you to wash your hands after helping me mark the math WBs, cuz they're filthy.

whether or not we're gonna be in the same hall, i'm just really glad we're so close by each other. we've had our differences but i know we love each other too much to let it ruin our friendship, and i really appreciate all the long convos (free calls to each other!!) and time we spend together doing silly fun things or just lepaking. and how you're always there for me (financially or otherwise HAHA) even though we're an east-west line apart.. but not for long!!! :D

LULL, looking forward to spending entire days with you again in sch.. i can't wait!! :)

Tuesday, August 10

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!

I spent national day with my family, mostly. Had delicious home-cooked lunch at home before heading down to church to help faith n vee with rttp decor. Went all the way to parkway w faith to get the A1 corrugated boards and queued up for koi! YUM:) oh, did you know if you rotate the word KOI 45 degrees to the left you get the chinese character "dou", which is bean. i thought it was very clever until i realised that koi sells bubble tea not soya bean milk....

been quite an eventful weekend for me, but i've tuition tmr at 9am so let me summarise:

FRI-  lunch w colleagues followed by costume rental for staff dinner (i got a han bok!). i left my phone in the cab on the way to the rental shop so kept calling till the taxi uncle picked up (later he told us he didn't know how to answer the call! touch screen...) Thank God i managed to get it back:)

went to meet vee n nicole for dinner after that, and we watched the last airbender! it's not too bad, despite the bad reviews. it's a decent action film, just not as humourous as the cartoon.

SAT- went to donate blood with taariq in the morning! too bad his veins were too small so he couldn't donate:/ then i had tuition with abby, then i went home and slacked the rest of the day! haha ok not very eventful there.

SUN- church service, then short leaders' meeting, then off to play netball at my junior's church! wah i'm aching slightly from the exercise. i haven't played in ages!!! and missing it more now..

evening was our annual SNP national day hide-and-seek!! managed to spend some time with Rita (friend from China on holiday here) so that was good:)

by the time i reached home i was so exhausted i dozed off for awhile on the com before dragging my stinky self to the shower and to bed...

Oh when, oh when can i do my marking?

Monday, August 9

love this love song

When we first met
Your hair was long and brown
You hadn't yet cut it all off
And now it's long once again, oh
Oh, it's long once again

As I kept track of every haircut that we ever had
I could, I could see how long it had been, oh
Oh, how long it had been

And this thought, made it clearer
I ought to be near her

All I see is where our days repeat
And our love goes on
As our hair grows long

Oh, Chelsea Lynn
I watched your hair grow from the root to tip
I know, I know I have always known
And I always will know
Oh, oh
That I could have a single direction until I am dead
I'll go, I'll go as I always have gone, and
And I always will go
Oh, oh

This thought made it clearer
I ought to be near her

All I see is where our days repeat
And our love goes on
As our hair grows long

nights out

been coming home late and going to work early this week, and i'm pretty exhausted! bleagh.

the nights out have been pretty good though:)

yest dinner w mel n taariq was nice n cheap, and i loved the post dinner walk n talk w riq cuz we have comfortably serious/lighthearted convos which are always so real. and i met jo for dinner today, zo n charm were sick so i forced her to meet me cuz i dressed for the occasion HAHA. it was quite refreshing! like haven't had such a long comfotable evening with a girlfriend in quite long. we talked and talked till we both got a little sleepy (might've been the beer) but it wasn't like we were gonna run out of things to say. YAY for sincere conversations! <3 <3

INCEPTION TOMORROW!!!!!

really hope i can wake up tmr for sports day/ national day celebrations! rarrr

Thursday, August 5

24 days to farewell, 26 days to a new experience!

best moment today

while waiting for dismissal i told my class that i want to go home early so the class must show everyone they can be the quietest (the asst DM dismisses them according to noise level). in order to achieve that i...
1. had to call out the talking kids repeatedly to tell them to shhhh
2. threatened that if we all stay back cuz of them, tmr they will suffer
3. refused to answer their incessant questions, my favourite being: miss lee what is "suffer"?

It worked! we were the first to be dismissed today!!! (4/5 days my class is always the last)
couldn't conceal my proud smile HAHAHA:)

Tuesday, August 3

feel-good song:)

Just in case they're wondering
They've got us pinned terribly
They don't believe our love is real
Cause they don't know how real love feels

You should know it's true
Just now, the part about my love for you
And how my heart's about burst
Into a thousand pieces
Oh it must be true
And They'll believe us too soon

Baby, it's fact
Our love is true
The word black is black
And blue is just blue
My love is true
It's a matter of fact
Oh, and you love me too
It's as simple as that
Baby, our love is true

They may say some awful things
But there's no point in listening
Your words are the only words
That I believe in afterwards.

You should know it's true
Just now, the part about my love for you
And how my heart's about burst
Into a thousand pieces
So it must be true
And they'll believe us too soon

Baby, it's fact
Our love is true
The way black is black
And blue is just blue
My love is true
It's a matter of fact
Oh, and you love me too
It's as simple as that
Baby, our love is true

25 days to last day of work!!

Alice

I've finished my first e-book! Pride and prejudice was good:) I feel more inclined to using long flowerly sentences now! haha i wonder why people spoke that way in the past... like every thing you said had to be peppered with polite phrases even if you didn't want to be civil.

anyway! i downloaded my next read - Alice in Wonderland! :) realised i never read the original by lewis caroll, only watched movie versions of the book and i think read an abridged version... if only i could dream like Alice... but then i wouldn't want to wake from such fantastic fantasies.

The bicycle lock's been broken and changed by my bro!! i shall find a day which i'm going home straight from work and start my cycling routine:)

Wednesday, July 21

i need my exercise!

downloaded this e-book from samsung apps last night (when i was supposed to be marking, but oh well), chose a classic - pride and prejudice. yes, i've never read it (hears the curses from my very lit-y friends) but i shall take my time. the first 4 chpts are very witty and the book seems promising. definitely not as painful as my A level classic - great expectations! totally fell asleep. never will be able to finish it in like a month.

anyway, i figured that i really need to start exercising regularly again! it's for health reasons i assure you. i had such excruciating menstrual cramps today i could barely stumble to class-.-'' yes, horror of horrors i got my period on the day which i've the most lessons lined up for me. anyway i only started getting bad cramps when i stopped training, it gets worse when i'm not active. like it's either no cramps or it's almost crippling. warm water helps and i refuse to take panadol (long term side effects) but i think exercise is the way to go.

OK now to get my brother to break that bike lock!!

Sunday, July 18

mini diary

i must apologise for neglecting my poor blog!! i've been using the mini-diary in my phone to record incidents or thoughts daily, either at the start or end of the day, so there's little motivation for me to re-hash whatever i've written. but the phone diary has a limit of dunno how many lines so i can't ramble much. and i've been trying to upload it to blogger but the best i can do is upload the whole thing as an image to FB. boo:(

started using the 40-day devotional, it's quite focused and insightful. will start this discipline again, it's smth i must work on because i've been putting it off too long!! AJA AJA FIGHTING!

oh. and need to find time to excercise again...

aniyohaseyo!

just came back from shermy wormy's 21st bday party! (daryl's such an efficient photo uploader!) THEME: EVERYTHING KOREAN! it was a really nice simple dinner-then-games prog, with nice personal touches (our on nametags in korean, prepared slots for us to write on her bday card) and it was a small comfortable group la. like bout 20 ppl, and we had a blast!! thanks to vee's hilarious games and everyone being so sporting. oh and the food was surprisingly awesome! i didn't know they could cook so well (one of the cooks was my sister haha, which explains my wonderment). HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHERM:)

things i've been dying to tell you all week!

Term 3 Week 1 was a blast! i mean it literally, as in, it was so packed my brain's all saturated with stuff i wasn't able to pen down cuz i was coming home so late and had to wake up so early. YES i forsook fb for a whole 3 days! HAHA. seems like forever (i know, terrible right) and i'm blabbering now cuz i haven't blogged for that long.

first things first!
UPDATE:
tues interview went well! it was this nice caucasian lady interviewer, an assc prof, who was friendly and didn't make me more stupidly nervous than i already was. she asked general guiding qns which weren't annoyingly vague (e.g. tell me about yourself) nor unreasonable (e.g. name the ethical issues surrounding the Human Genome Project). i did prepare for that last question by the way, cuz i was freaking out that much in the car on the way there, caught in that terrible PIE jam caused by 2 accidents. i called poor michelle and she could amazingly tell me some of the ethical stuff we learnt during the bio lectures we slept thru. ANYWAY i should know the results next week, or later.

let's go LAURENT BERNARD'S @ robertson quay! because the chocolate desserts there are to die for, like seriously, i hardly can tell the difference btw good and excellent but these sweet treats are to die for. yes i sound like an over-enthusiastic food critic now but it's awesome seriously let's go when i get my next pay. YUMMMMM.

i went there with my SERVE babes on thurs, we hardly meet up but we always have memorable outings. like has to be awesome food or cool (mostly ulu) location or doing fun stuff. like how we had sashimi @ sagisawa which was as thick as my fingers! also at robertson quay, fyi.

oh and i had udders at the ulu part of bukit timah on wed! siglap one nicer venue but saw new weird flavours at bukit. it was aft yummy simpang-like dinner with cherrie jingyan esther at clementi area. we divulged alot of secrets HAHAHAH. it was awesome catching up with them la:) just that we kinda couldn't find the bus stop which had the buses that would bring us home, so in the end i burnt another hole in my wallet taking cab home:/

OK AND ROYALS CAFE@SIGLAP HAS SURPRISINGLY DELICIOUS CHICKEN SOUP. order the set meal!

silver lining appearing

PRAISE GOD!!!!

(there's no other way to say it..)

got a call from NTU for me to go down for an interview for bioscience!! WOOHOO i couldn't be more ecstatic!! i seriously thought i'd lost all chance to enter local uni.. thank God for the opportunity!

and as i was trying to prepare for my interview, i checked my email and OH I PASSED MY PPT, like finally!!! even though it doesn't guarantee me a place anywhere it's just such a relief to have passed it after failing 3 times. it's valid for 2 years, so it does open up the PE option for me. YAY.

OKAY i wanna sleep early so i can be FRESH for my interview!!!

shall try and read up on some bio topics.. (now where are my bio notes?)

fresh start

it's about making the best of what i've been given. it's about being honest with myself and learning from my mistakes. it's about accepting the tough things that are said and making the change.

it's gonna be a fresh start:)

rollercoaster to square one

i want to beat someone up. moe person called saying that the Ba offer was an "error". WHO MAKES MISTAKES FOR THIS SORTA THING?! it's not just my education path but my career at stake too thank you very much. GRRRR. and now because of this last min oops i have to send in appeal after appeal to try and get a place in uni somehow so i don't get stuck teaching here for another year. it's amazing how the one place that made me discover how much i enjoy teaching is also the one place which i face the most discouragement EVER, particularly in pursuing this career.

now is the time all to live up to all those larger-than-life remarks about "eirene shows great tenacity" that my teachers have showered on me thru the years of appraisals. thanks cher.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH

whoever thought trusting God was easy is a fool (me). but having this security that He's with me is seriously the only thing keeping me from bursting into frustrated tears and wallowing in despair.

i'm sure there's a reason i've been put on this rollercoaster that leads to nowhere - well, at least i don't know where.
